Kort beskrivelse: N55. Gen. Sp. Fam. ? Biphyllidae. The specimen displays well preserved dorsal side of a beetle, which possibly belongs to the beetle family Biphyllidae (a relatively small family from the taxonomically very problematic supefamily Cucujoidea). Degree of preservation akes it possible to identify the specimen to at least genus level. There is good ground to assume that it is at least a new species, yet unknown for science.

Noteworthy that no representatives of Biphyllidae have been known from Baltic Amber yet. This fact along with the good preservation of the specimen make it worth for deposition at the museum. At the moment the superfamily Cucujoidea is under close phylogenetic investigation by the international group of scientist, including an attempt to date the origin of its major clades. Although relatively young fossil, this amber specimen can be used as an additional calibrating point for their project.
